In an interview with The Insider last week, Ray J said, “We’ve always kept our relationship as private as we could.” Rumors about Ray J and Whitney Houston’s relationship have been around since she divorced Bobby Brown, but the two never confirmed any of the rumors.

“I have a lot of love for her and I have a lot of respect for her,” Ray J said when he was asked if they were ever romantically involved. Even as the interviewer persistently asked if they ever had more than a friendship, he seemed to avoid directly answering. “For the most part we’ve just been friends and always kept everything hush hush.”

TMZ reports state that Ray J hurried to the Beverly Hilton hotel room on Saturday, where Whitney was staying, as soon as he heard about her death. Police officials did not allow him to go anywhere near the room and he seemed distressed.

Ray J, 31, and Whitney, 48, were seen together on many occasions. Although neither ever admitted to being together, it was obvious that they were close. The rumors about their possible relationship first started after they were seen together at the Bernard Hopkins versus Joe Calzaghe fight.

Whitney and Ray J were last seen together on Thursday at the Tru Hollywood club in Los Angeles for Kelly Price’s party. Ray J has not made any public statements about Whitney’s death, but appears very distraught about the new
