The St.Pete Pier is reportedly going to close May of next year. Mayor Bill Foster met with City Council today to discuss the demolition process and timeline, stating that it will most likely close next May. It will not then be re-opened until late 2015, after $50 million dollars are spent building a new structure.

The designer of the new Pier said the new building will mostly contain restaurant and retail space, but most of the stores and eateries will actually be located away from the Pier structure itself. They will be located closer to downtown St.Pete in a 6,000-square-foot-area, called “The Hub”.  The now historic Pier that’s there now has been there since 1973.
